LukaVuskovic, HSV player, describes his brother Mario as a "ferocious individual"
Young Talent Luka Vuskovic Shines with Croatia's U21 Team and Aims for Hajduk Split Return
Luka Vuskovic, the 18-year-old football prodigy, is currently making waves with Croatia's U21 team. But his journey in the world of football began much earlier, sharing a childhood dream with his brother Mario.
Vuskovic made his professional debut for Hajduk Split at the tender age of just under 16, a club that holds significant personal meaning for him. The Poljud Stadium, where he became an adult, was a place of pressure but also a catalyst for his growth as a player.
This summer, Vuskovic faced multiple career choices, including staying at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, joining Belgian first division club KVC Westerlo, and other unspecified options. However, he chose to move to Hamburg SV (HSV) on loan for one year.
The promotion of HSV to the Bundesliga and the presence of his brother Mario, who is suspended for a year due to a doping test, were significant factors in Vuskovic's decision. He will wear the number 44, which was his brother's number, while playing for HSV.
Vuskovic is open about his playing time at HSV, stating that he plays if he performs well in training and if the coach believes in him. The coach of Hamburger SV, Merlin Polzin, has been the head coach of HSV since December 2024.
Despite Mario's current suspension, Luka remains optimistic about his brother's return to the big football stage. He admires Mario's resilience in handling the doping ban and believes that his brother is physically strong and will improve even further.
A shared dream of playing together for Hajduk Split is what fuels Luka's ambition. He expressed a desire to play for Hajduk Split with Mario and win a cup that they dreamed of as children.
Vuskovic felt the atmosphere at the promotion game against Ulm and was celebrated with his brother Mario after the game. His experience at HSV so far has taught him that the pressure he has faced in his career has prepared him to play anywhere.
With a contract with Tottenham Hotspur until 2030, Luka Vuskovic's future in football looks bright. But for now, he is focused on making the most of his time at HSV and helping the team achieve success in the Bundesliga.
