In a surprising turn of events, Princess Marie Caroline of Liechtenstein, known as Europe's richest princess according to Swiss tabloid "Blick," tied the knot with Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer, a commoner, on Saturday. The wedding took place in the cathedral of Vaduz, the capital city of the principality of Liechtenstein.

This union is unusual in the world of nobility, according to Lisbeth Bischof, a noted expert on the subject. Normally, it is the commoner who marries a princess. However, Princess Marie Caroline has chosen to break tradition and follow her heart.

The principality of Liechtenstein, where the wedding took place, is only half the size of Bremen, with just 160 square kilometers. The current head of state of this constitutional monarchy is Prince Hans-Adam II. The princely house is considered very wealthy due to its bank, ownership of real estate, and forests.

Meanwhile, in Hamm, a city with around 40,000 inhabitants, separate news events are unfolding. A large-scale internet outage has occurred, and city technicians are working on site due to a gas conversion project. Additionally, HSHL, a local organisation in Hamm, is holding Open Doors events in 2025, including the Hamm erFahren event on August 31, 2025, starting from 1:00 PM at the campus of Hochschule Hamm-Lippstadt, featuring an Oldtimer Rallye and various guided tours and activities.

Following the wedding ceremony, the celebration took place in the castle of the princely family. The bride wore a long white dress with embroidery and puff sleeves, adding a touch of elegance to the special day.

This royal wedding has certainly added an exciting twist to the world of nobility, and we wish the happy couple a lifetime of happiness together.
