The electric vehicle (EV) landscape is set to expand further with the upcoming launch of the Lucid Gravity in the UK market, expected around the second half of 2026. This announcement comes as Lucid Motors, the US-based EV pioneer, prepares to start sales of the Lucid Gravity in Europe next month, with the head of the brand, Marc Winterhoff, at the helm.

The Lucid Gravity is currently one of the most advanced electric cars in the US market, and it's poised to make a significant impact in the European market as well. The SUV boasts class-leading 926-volt electrics that allow charging of its 123kWh battery at beyond 400kW.

The Lucid Gravity offers two models: the Touring and the top-of-the-range Grand Touring. The Touring is available with five or seven seats, while the Grand Touring model, known for its impressive performance, accelerates from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in just 3.4 seconds, producing 617kW of power and 1232Nm of torque.

While the Lucid Gravity is expected to arrive in the UK and Europe, its potential launch in the Australian market remains uncertain. Reports suggest that the battery-powered mid-size SUV, if produced, could potentially be launched in Australia, but Lucid's plans for the Australian market are yet to be confirmed.

In a bid to cater to off-road enthusiasts, Lucid has unveiled the Lucid Gravity X Concept. This rugged version of the Gravity features rugged front and rear bash plates, underbody armour, and a set of new tow hooks at each end. Lucid is also planning to offer its take on Land Rover's terrain response system for the Lucid Gravity X Concept.

Compared to the regular mid-size Gravity SUV, the Lucid Gravity X Concept features a wider track, raised suspension, and stronger off-road rims with all-terrain tyres. Additionally, it comes equipped with an aerodynamically optimised roof rack, LED auxiliary lamps, and bonnet-mounted graphics that feature topographical maps of Big Sur and Death Valley.

The Lucid Gravity X Concept, however, is not yet confirmed for production. If produced, it could potentially rival the Audi Q6 e-tron and the Porsche Macan in terms of pricing, making it an attractive option for those seeking a high-performance, off-road capable electric SUV.

Right-hand drive production for the Lucid Gravity is expected to be announced later this year, bringing us one step closer to the highly anticipated launch of this advanced electric SUV in the UK and potentially, Australia. Stay tuned for more updates on the Lucid Gravity and its potential Australian debut.
