The Minnesota Lynx secured a hard-fought victory against the Golden State Valkyries, with a final score of 78-72. The game was a nail-biter, featuring multiple lead changes and impressive performances from both teams.

In the first half, the Valkyries held a narrow 36-31 advantage, thanks in part to 15 points each from Janelle Salaun, Illana Rupert, and Kaila Charles. Salaum and Charles contributed to the lead with a 3-pointer and a layup, respectively, in the final minute of the first half.

However, the tide turned in the third quarter when the Lynx mounted a formidable 16-0 run. This surge was led by Natisha Hiedeman, who scored 14 points during the run, including two 3-pointers. Hiedeman finished the game as the top scorer with 24 points.

Courtney Williams added 14 points for the Lynx, while Napheesa Collier contributed 20 points and a crucial 3-pointer to start the run. Jessica Shepard, starting in the absence of Alanna Smith, chipped in with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The run gave Minnesota a commanding 61-52 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Valkyries battled back, with Veronica Burton scoring 14 points and converting a three-point play with 45 seconds left, pulling the Valkyries within 74-72. However, the Lynx held on, with Kayla McBride clinching the game with two free throws after a turnover.

The victory improves the Lynx's record to 33-9, while the Valkyries continue their successful season, having sold out every home game this season and setting a WNBA attendance record averaging 18,604.

The Lynx will next play at Indiana, while the Valkyries are scheduled to face the Seattle Storm, but specific details regarding the date, location, and outcome of that game were not available at the time of this report.
