Mahindra targets Chinese brands with the introduction of a new international platform

Mahindra, the Indian automaker, has recently unveiled four concept models that are set to disrupt the global SUV market. The new range of vehicles, underpinned by the 'NU_IQ platform', aims to redefine the premium SUV experience in various global markets.

The four concept models, named Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT, and Vision.X, each offer unique characteristics. The Vision.X, dubbed the Sporty Spice of the concept models, promises an exciting driving experience. The Vision.S, on the other hand, is a small electric SUV with decent ground clearance, catering to the growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles.

The Vision.T and Vision.SXT bear a striking resemblance to the Toyota FJ Cruiser, indicating Mahindra's ambition to compete in the mid-size SUV segment. Mahindra aspires to deliver these new models to a larger audience in India and has also set its sights on left-hand drive regions, such as North America, Europe, and parts of South America, for their launch.

Potential left-hand drive markets could include China or the United States, and there's a strong possibility that New Zealand is in Mahindra's sights for future products. Mahindra's global expansion plans are not limited to SUVs, as the company has expressed its intention to cater to a larger audience in these regions.

The concepts showcase Mahindra's 'NU_IQ platform', which supports both electrified and combustion powertrains. This flexibility allows Mahindra to cater to the diverse powertrain preferences of consumers across the globe.

Mahindra has promised superior driving dynamics, class-leading boot space, and top-tier safety standards for its new models. However, the company has not yet specified any details about the models' performance or features. Production versions of the concepts are expected to launch from 2027.
