majorbroadcast change: exit of a well-liked Freeview and Sky movies channel from the airwaves, marking an end to its 11-year run in a significant television overhaul.

Great news for film enthusiasts! As of yesterday, the popular movie channel Great! Movies has moved to Sky Movies and the Roku service, replacing Great! Romance until early January. This change comes after a major shakeup on September 4, when Great! Movies swapped places with another channel.

For those who have been watching Great! Movies since its launch in 2014, this change might come as a surprise. Previously, viewers only needed a TV aerial to tune into the channel. However, to continue watching Great! Movies, viewers will now need both an aerial and broadband, as it is now available on Sky Movies and the internet-based Roku service.

Meanwhile, Great! Mystery, which used to be the home for mystery series, has taken over the broadcasting slot on Great! Movies on Freeview and Sky Movies. Starting from October 5, 2025, at 20:15, the channel will air the new mystery series "Fallen."

To compensate for the change, Great! Mystery and several of its sister channels are receiving a content boost. The shift also marks the return of the festival channel on Freeview, Sky, and Virgin, which brings back a festive atmosphere months ahead of Christmas.

In addition to Great! Movies, Roku is rolling out 40 new FAST channels, offering Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV. These new channels include PGA TOUR for golf fans, Unsolved Mysteries for true crime enthusiasts, This Old House for DIY lovers, and NatureTime for wildlife shows. The FAST channels function similarly to traditional TV, with a scheduled list of programs, and will have advertisements to remain free.

Great! Movies is still a great destination for viewers who love cinema classics. The channel started broadcasting yesterday at 8am with the movie "Laughing All The Way." Some of the best films in cinema history, such as The Godfather and Back to the Future, are also part of Great! Movies' lineup.

So, grab your popcorn and enjoy the new lineup on Great! Movies and Great! Mystery!
