MapleStory Universe Broadens Infinite IP Playground Plan with Developer Tools and Expansion of Legacy IP

Nexon, the renowned video game company, is expanding its digital footprint with the development of NEXSPACE and MapleStory Universe (MSU). These initiatives aim to revolutionise the gaming landscape by fostering a culture of creative expression and building a secure, collaborative digital community.

MSU, a blockchain-powered expansion of Nexon's game IP, has announced new developments to bring its Infinite IP Playground (IIPP) vision to life through Meta play. The IIPP vision focuses on expanding the boundaries of play, from traditional gameplay loops to open-ended systems where players and builders can co-create experiences.

One of the key components of the NEXSPACE ecosystem is its principles of transparency, security, and trust. These principles are evident in MSU's integration of a permissionless chain, allowing any builder to deploy smart contracts and dApps within the MSU ecosystem. This open environment has already attracted more than 50 independent teams, who have been building within the MSU ecosystem since API access was opened.

MSU has also confirmed the creation of an ecosystem fund to support early-stage projects aligned with the IIPP vision. This fund will provide resources to developers and creators, helping to bring their innovative ideas to life.

Another Nexon game franchise beyond MapleStory will be integrated into the NEXSPACE ecosystem in the future, but the specific IP has not yet been disclosed. This integration is expected to introduce new gameplay formats and creator possibilities, further enriching the digital community.

NEXSPACE aims to foster a culture of creative expression and create a secure, collaborative digital community. To facilitate this, MSU is rolling out a Builder Center, a new portal for developers onboarding, API integration, and modular on/off-chain tools, scheduled for Q4 2025.

In addition, MSU has activated its first gameplay logic API focused on item enhancement, which will go live on 29 July. This is just the beginning, as MSU's 2025 roadmap includes the launch of ecosystem support policies and additional API enhancements in August, the rollout of third-party Synergy Apps and services in September-November, and the launch of a new Builder Center, expansion of the API suite, and MapleStory N Winter Update in December.
