Medieval times return to the town of Leuchtenberg
In the picturesque town of Hirschau, the Leuchtenberg Castle Support Association is marking its 20th anniversary with a two-day event titled "The Lively Castle". The festivities, taking place on August 26 and 27, will feature a variety of attractions, including medieval demonstrations, shooting and drill displays, and a fashion show. The castle, nestled in the heart of the town, will open its doors to visitors from 10 am to 6 pm.
Meanwhile, in the world of football, Lena Oberdorf, a rising star for Bayern Munich, is basking in the glory of her long-awaited debut and the club's Supercup win against VfL Wolfsburg. However, the victory has not come without its challenges, as Oberdorf has spoken openly about her struggles following the triumph.
Elsewhere in the entertainment industry, Salimou Thiam, a Bielefeld native, has made a significant leap with his role in "The Hunger Games". His journey from Germany to Hollywood began with a 12-second casting video, and his story continues to inspire many.
The town of Stulln is also gearing up for a three-day Kirwa festival, filled with a lively party atmosphere, complete with beer, music, and dancing. Acts like "Stockerholzer Buam", "Rundumadum", or "D`Ubler-Boum" are set to perform, promising an exciting lineup for the festivities.
In a different part of Germany, 900 people gathered to celebrate Austropop legend Wolfgang Ambros in Schwandorf. The sold-out Oberpfalz Hall was a testament to the enduring popularity of the music icon.
Amidst these celebrations, there are also sombre notes. The Berlin Letter Museum, a repository of the city's history, is closing its doors after 20 years due to a lack of funds. The museum's collection of 3D objects tells compelling stories, but its future remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, German entertainer Dieter Hallervorden, known for his electric performances in the past, laments the change in the atmosphere of live events. He misses the days when guests were charged with electricity, a sentiment he expressed during a recent interview. Hallervorden also shared that he rarely watches TV these days, finding talk shows too smooth.
As the summer winds down, these events serve as a reminder of the rich cultural landscape Germany has to offer, from its historic castles to its vibrant music scenes.
