Mega Millions Unveils 2023 Changes: New Multipliers, Higher Ticket Price
The Mega Millions consortium has announced several changes for the upcoming year. The next draw, following a record-breaking jackpot, is set for January 31, 2023. Meanwhile, the name of the Executive Director remains unknown.
The Mega Millions jackpot for the December 28, 2022, draw reached an astonishing $1.15 billion. If won, the jackpot can be taken as a lump sum of $516 million after taxes. The odds of winning remain at about one in 300 million.
In 2023, Mega Millions will introduce special multipliers, starting with 2x, 3x, 4x, and 5x values. The first of these, a 10x multiplier, will be available in early April. Additionally, the price of a base ticket will increase to $5, a near 300% jump from the current price.
