Mettlach acknowledges and celebrates two distinguished officials in the refereeing community.

In a ceremony held at Mettlach municipality's town hall, two long-serving mediators, Helmut Kiefer and Rainer Borens, were honoured for their significant contributions to alternative dispute resolution in the region.

State Secretary Dr. Jens Diener, Mayor Daniel Kiefer, and Michael Wagner, director of Merzig district court, attended the event to recognise the duo's dedication and service.

Helmut Kiefer, who has served as an arbitrator for the Nohn-Dreisbach district for 30 years, was presented with a golden honorary pin and a certificate of appreciation. His calm demeanour as a mediator was noted in his citation.

Rainer Borens, who served as an arbitrator in the Wehingen-Betingen district for 40 years, received similar accolades. His contributions to resolving conflicts were highlighted as being citizen-friendly and peaceful, significantly contributing to peaceful and citizen-friendly conflict resolution in the region. He too was presented with a certificate of appreciation.

Dr. Jens Diener expressed gratitude towards both Helmut Kiefer and Rainer Borens for their long-standing service and commitment, which he said strengthens trust in the legal system and social cohesion.
