Migrants seek evaluation of their interpersonal skills with the female gender
In a bid to enhance women's safety, foster social integration, and strengthen trust in Russia's migration policy, a new proposal has been put forward. The "New People" faction, in collaboration with the group "ะัะธัะตัั ะ ะพััะธะธ" (Officers of Russia), has proposed adding a special section about interacting with women to the exam for migrants in Russia.
This proposal was sent to Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, and it comes in response to an increase in deportation and expulsion cases of migrants in 2024, with the number of incidents totaling 190,000, an increase of 93,800.
The proposed section aims to inform foreign citizens about cultural and legal norms in Russia, promoting respect for Russian traditions and laws. It emphasizes the consequences of any form of harassment or persistent behavior towards women, including harassment and sexual advances, and many of the incidents involved violations of public order related to disrespectful or offensive behavior towards women.
The measures proposed for this special section could help limit the practice of fictitious marriages used to obtain Russian citizenship, though this is a separate proposal. The deputies believe it is necessary to amend the government decree on the minimum requirements for migrants' knowledge to include a section on rules of interaction with women.
The amendment would also include penalties for violations of these rules, as the proposed section does not mention any penalties for violations of these rules explicitly, but the earlier proposal did include such penalties.
The proposed section aims to foster the social integration of migrants and could potentially help limit conflict situations. Strengthening trust in Russia's migration policy is another goal of the proposed section. The State Duma has passed a law against fictitious marriages, paternity, and maternity among migrants, which is a separate issue from the proposed section about interacting with women.
This move is a significant step towards ensuring a safer and more respectful environment for women in Russia and fostering a more harmonious coexistence between migrants and the local population. The fate of this proposal is yet to be determined, but it underscores the commitment of some Russian authorities to addressing issues related to migrant behaviour and women's safety.
