The second phase of Operation "Gideon's Chariots" has commenced in Gaza City, as part of a broader plan to reoccupy the Gaza Strip. This plan was initiated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and was approved by Israel’s Security Cabinet on August 8, 2025, following a ten-hour overnight meeting.

The objectives of the second phase are to achieve the goals set for the war and to reoccupy Gaza City. The Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, announced the launch of this phase on September 3, addressing army troops in the field during the announcement.

On August 29, the Israeli army declared Gaza City a "dangerous combat zone." The reoccupation of Gaza City is a component of the plan to gradually reoccupy the Gaza Strip, with the ultimate goal of reclaiming the entire region.

Throughout the operation, Zamir has emphasised the importance of returning hostages as a moral and national mission. He reiterated this sentiment during the announcement of the second phase, expressing the Israeli military's commitment to achieving the objectives of the war while prioritising the safety and well-being of those affected.

The second phase of Operation "Gideon's Chariots" is a significant step in the reoccupation of the Gaza Strip. As the operation progresses, updates will be provided to keep the public informed about the ongoing efforts to secure a peaceful and stable future for the region.
