My Kitchen Rules (MKR), the popular reality TV show, is gearing up for its new season, and it seems controversy has already found its way into the mix.

Ahead of the season premiere on Monday at 7.30pm, a promotional video has stirred up a storm on social media. The video features contestant Lauren Argyle, a 25-year-old from Logan in Queensland, criticising her city.

However, Argyle's comments have not gone unchallenged. Another contestant, Michael Edelberg, called out Argyle and her friend Lilli Mckay for being from Logan, referring to them as "the Logan bogans." This remark was met with disagreement from Argyle, who believes Edelberg has no idea about Logan as he has not visited the city.

Edelberg's generalisation of Logan as having a "reputation for being the slums" did not sit well with many, and he was quickly labelled as "rude" and "having no class" on social media. Portegys, another contestant, agreed with Edelberg but said it's not appropriate to say it out loud.

Logan, a city located between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, is home to almost 350,000 people. Notable locals from Logan include Savage Garden's Darren Hayes and Picnic at Hanging Rock actress Lily Sullivan. Despite Edelberg's remarks, one social media user wrote that they have been to Logan and found it to be a "lovely place."

As the new season of MKR approaches, it's clear that viewers are in for an interesting ride. With its contestants clashing over stereotypes and the city they call home, the show is set to deliver drama and intrigue in equal measure. Whether you're a long-time fan or a newcomer to the series, it's shaping up to be an unmissable event on your TV screen.
