Speed Monitoring in Bergisch Gladbach: Week of September 5th to 11th

The city of Bergisch Gladbach is stepping up its traffic safety measures with speed monitoring operations from Friday, September 5th, to Saturday, September 13th. The schedule for this week includes various streets across the city, as announced on the municipal internet pages.

On Monday, September 8th, speed controls will take place on Reuterstraße, Brüderstraße, and Jägerstraße. The following day, Tuesday, September 9th, Paffrather Straße, Kaule, and Dolmanstraße will be under observation. On Wednesday, September 10th, Dellbrücker Straße, Reiser, and Mülheimer Straße will be monitored, while Asselborner Weg, Kardinal-Schulte-Straße, and Katterbachstraße will be under control on Friday, September 11th.

The schedule for the latter part of the week includes Ball, Rheinhöhenweg, Odenthaler Straße on Friday, September 12th, and Kippekausen, Borngasse on Saturday, September 13th. It is important to note that deviations in the schedule may occur due to unforeseen current traffic situations.

The city publishes the planned measurement points of the speed monitoring carried out by the municipality on a weekly basis on its municipal internet pages. Mobile speed checks are planned for the entire week, and the announcement and publication of measurement points apply to the locations that are to be published on a daily basis, but not to the exact measurement times.

The administrative regulation No. 48.26, effective from July 15th, 2013, requires the announcement and publication of communal measurement points for speed monitoring. The police authority carries out its own controls, and information on this can be found on the police's internet pages.

Scientific studies show that transparency, publication, and more controls bring about positive behavioral changes. Particular importance is attached to the announcement of controls and the publication of measurement points in the new regulation. Speed checks may occur on different streets each day of the week.

The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government NRW changed the administrative regulation on § 48 Abs. 2 of the Ordnungsbehördengesetz (OBG) effective from 15th July 2013. The city uses the municipal internet pages as a suitable medium in accordance with the regulation to inform residents and visitors about the speed monitoring operations.

Speed monitoring measures for reasons of traffic safety are to be ensured as a priority in accordance with the available resources. The city encourages all road users to adhere to the speed limits and drive safely to ensure the safety of everyone on the roads.
