Mockery and derision pour out for Hanning:

In a disappointing turn of events, the German handball team, Berlin, lost their top Bundesliga match against SC Magdeburg with a score of 32:39 (13:22). The game did not resemble a duel between two top teams, as Magdeburg dominated the contest.

The first half saw a stellar performance from Magdeburg's goalkeeper, Sergey Hernández, who made nine saves. Berlin, on the other hand, struggled with missed shots and passes, showcasing a relegation candidate-like performance in certain phases of the game. Their weak defensive behavior was also evident.

SCM fans celebrated as league leaders during the game, while their counterparts in Berlin showed their disapproval. The dismissal of sports director Stefan Kretzschmar and coach Jaron Siewert in the preparation days had caused a stir, and the fans' anger was evident as Krickau and Hanning were heavily booed during the match.

Even the SCM fans ridiculed Bob Hanning, shouting that "there would be nothing going on here without Jaron". Jaron Siewert is a former coach who was considered crucial for the success of SC Magdeburg's main rival, Füchse Berlin. He became the youngest coach to win a Bundesliga championship and led the Berlin team to the Champions League final before being relieved of his duties in 2025.

Berlin's star player, Mathias Gidsel, was also criticised for his weak finish. In contrast, Magdeburg displayed strong tempo play, temporarily increasing their lead over Berlin to twelve goals after the restart.

Stefan Kretzschmar, before the game, urged Berlin fans to stand united behind the team. However, the loss has raised questions about the current state of the team's leadership and the need for unity more than ever. In an interview, Bob Hanning responded to the fan anger, stating that if you bear the responsibility, you have to stand by it.

The loss to SC Magdeburg serves as a wake-up call for Berlin, who will need to regroup and improve significantly if they are to challenge for the title in the remaining games of the season.
