Monsoon Intensifies Across Kerala, Assam, and Maharashtra with Torrential Rainfall; Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh Suffer Under Heatwave; Delhi Experiences Showers and Storms - Discover Detailed Weather Forecast
Over the coming days, various parts of India are set to experience a range of weather conditions, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
South India, including Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, will continue to be hit by daily thunderstorms and rain. The region is expected to receive heavy rainfall along with gusty winds of up to 50 kmph. Very heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Kerala and Karnataka on May 20.
Citizens are advised to stay updated with local forecasts and take necessary precautions against heatwaves, lightning, and heavy rainfall.
Elsewhere, scattered rainfall is expected across Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Several parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Konkan-Goa will witness thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and high wind speeds, with thundersqualls reaching up to 70 kmph over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada on select days.
Northeast India will also see fairly to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-50 kmph) till May 23. Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh are likely to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, especially on May 18. West Bengal & Sikkim will experience heavy rainfall from May 18-21, with wind speeds reaching up to 70 kmph.
Delhi will experience a mix of heat, cloudiness, and occasional light rain, with maximum temperatures around 40-43°C.
Parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu will continue to face heatwave conditions over the coming days. Chhattisgarh and MP will have moderate rain throughout the forecast period, with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph.
East Rajasthan and parts of Uttar Pradesh will see light showers with duststorms. Odisha and Vidarbha will experience squalls and heavy showers from May 19-21, with wind speeds of 60-70 kmph. Strong dust-raising winds are likely over West Rajasthan for the entire week.
The southwest monsoon has advanced into the south Arabian Sea, Maldives, Comorin, Bay of Bengal, Andaman Islands, and is expected to progress further over central and northeastern Bay of Bengal in the next 3-4 days.
A low-pressure area is expected to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal off the coast of Odisha starting around May 27, 2025. This low-pressure area then developed into a depression and intensified into a deep depression near the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh by the end of May 2025.
Finally, a cyclonic circulation over Karnataka coast may develop into a low-pressure area by May 22. Bihar & Jharkhand will have scattered thunderstorms on May 18-19, with wind speeds of 60-70 kmph.
