On the night of September 7, the celestial spectacle of a total lunar eclipse captivated stargazers across the globe. This unique astronomical event was observed in various locations, including the Republic of Komi, Russia, and cities such as Vladivostok.

The moon passed entirely through Earth's shadow during the eclipse, transforming it into an orange hue, known as the "blood moon". Amateur astronomer Nikolai Grekalo, who recorded the visibility of the event in Vladivostok, described the sight as awe-inspiring.

According to Nikolai, the moon's familiar brightness was gradually covered by a shadow, with the moon's surface taking on unusual red tones. This red colouration is caused by Earth's atmosphere, as sunlight passing through it scatters and "colors" the moon in an orange-bronze hue.

The total lunar eclipse with the blood moon appearance was not a common occurrence, making it a rare and special event. Astronomers consider this phenomenon to be one of the most beautiful visible to the naked eye.

The eclipse was captured by a correspondent for "Komiinform", who documented the event for posterity. Amateur astronomers like Nikolai Grekalo seized the opportunity to capture unique images of the eclipse.

The last total lunar eclipse with a similar appearance was observed in the summer of 2018, underscoring the rarity of this event. The total lunar eclipse provided a rare opportunity for amateur astronomers to showcase their skills and contribute to the body of knowledge about this fascinating celestial event.

The total lunar eclipse was anticipated and observed in various locations, not just limited to the Republic of Komi and Russia. This rare event served as a reminder of the beauty and wonder that the universe has to offer, and inspired a renewed appreciation for the mysteries of the cosmos.
