Movie Tips for Newtown Cinema, Starting from 4th September 2025
In the realm of cinema, a diverse array of stories awaits audiences. Here's a snapshot of some captivating films and cinema-related news that are making waves.
"Schauburg" - A Collection of Tales
The Schauburg cinema is currently undergoing renovation, but that hasn't stopped it from offering an intriguing lineup of films. "The Montessori Principle - The Joy of Self-Learning" is a thought-provoking documentary that's now showing. On the other hand, "Schauburg: Caught Stealing" presents a gripping tale of a bartender named Hank Thomas who finds himself embroiled in a series of problems after taking in his neighbour's cat.
"Tafiti - Off through the Desert" - A Journey of Courage and Friendship
Directed by Nina Wels, this animated film tells the story of Tafiti, an earthman who lives by his grandfather's rules, eschewing friendships with other animals. Tafiti's life takes an unexpected turn when he meets the brush-eared pig Pinsel during his desert adventure. The story unfolds as Tafiti and Pinsel embark on a journey filled with courage, friendship, and togetherness.
"Schauburg," "Thalia," and Beyond
In "Schauburg," we meet Tilda, a student and part-time worker at a supermarket, who is also caring for her sick mother and younger sister. Tilda finds solace and happiness in swimming lanes, which she sees as a way to escape from her responsibilities. Fate brings Tilda together with Viktor, another swimmer who also finds solace in the pool and has a connection to her past.
Meanwhile, "Thalia, Federal Start" presents two parallel narratives. In one, we follow Viet and Nam, young miners who are in love and are searching for Nam's missing father. In another, a character in "Thalia, Federal Start: The German People" lives and experiences racism and injustice in Hanau, Germany. A poignant moment in this film depicts a character, bleeding from gunshot wounds, looking up at the night sky, and being used as a human shield by paramedics.
"Thalia, Nationwide Start: What is Love Worth" - A Modern Matchmaking Tale
In this film, Dakota Johnson stars as Lucy, a matchmaker in a high-end agency who struggles to find true love herself. Lucy's life becomes more complicated when she is approached by the rich Harry Castillo (Pedro Pascal) and the attractive John (Chris Evans), who presents a dilemma for her as she is torn between the two.
Promotions and Events
The Neustadt Whisper is giving away two free tickets each for Thalia and Schauburg cinemas this week. Additionally, guided tours of the Schauburg cinema construction site will be available on Sunday.
In Tilda's life, her home life is burdened by her mother's alcoholism. Yet, she finds a glimmer of hope in her swimming lanes, offering a brief respite from her responsibilities. As the stories of Tafiti, Lucy, Tilda, and many more unfold on the big screen, cinema continues to serve as a beacon of escape and connection for audiences everywhere.
