Mudtown: Upcoming Premiere, Actors, Storyline, Preview, Interviews, and All Relevant Details
Gareth Bale, the renowned footballer, is set to make a foray into acting as Glyn Humphries in the upcoming Welsh drama series "Mudtown". The English-language version of the show will be broadcast on U&Alibi from Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
The series, set in South Wales and focusing on the goings-on at Newport's Magistrates Court, boasts an impressive cast. Matthew Gravelle plays Beca's father, Alun Lewis Jones, while Lloyd Meredith takes on the role of Sonny Higgins, Beca's boyfriend. Erin Richards portrays Claire Lewis Jones, Beca's mother, and Lauren Morais plays Beca herself.
Sonny Higgins, played by Lloyd Meredith, is initially portrayed as a rough and ready bad boy, but the character is revealed to be complex and damaged. Tom Cullen, known for his role as Tony Soprano's evolved and intelligent counterpart, Saint Pete, adds a layer of intrigue to the series as the criminal kingpin.
The six-part Welsh-language version of "Mudtown", called Ar y Ffin, originally launched as a box set on BBC iPlayer on Sunday, December 29, 2024. It later launched weekly on Welsh language channel S4C on 9pm on the same day.
The series will be available on various platforms, including Sky 109/826, Virgin 126/200, BT 312/382, TalkTalk 312, and TV Player On demand on Sky, Virgin, BT, and TalkTalk. It will also be available as a box set on Sky Box Sets, Virgin TV Box Sets, and NOW.
Helen Perry commissioned "Mudtown" for UKTV, with Severn Screen serving as the executive producer. The thriller was written by Hannah Daniel and Georgia Lee, and Hannah Thomas, Rhys Carter, and Chris Forster are the producers and directors.
Kimberley Nixon plays Sara Humphries in the series, but the name of the director of "Mudtown" remains undisclosed. Sonny Higgins spent time in Wakefield prison before moving to Newport, adding a gritty realism to the storyline.
With its compelling plot, talented cast, and Welsh roots, "Mudtown" promises to be a gripping addition to the UK's television landscape.
