Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition Celebrates 22nd Edition

The Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex), a significant cultural event on the UAE's calendar, is currently underway at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. This year marks the 22nd edition of the event, which is experiencing its largest turnout in its 22-year history.

Saeed Al Aleli, a resident of Umm Al Quwain, brought his three children to the festival for the first time. Among the many attractions, the heritage village stands out. Organized by a group of Emiratis, the heritage village features displays of falcons, drawing lessons, and Emirati hospitality. It offers an opportunity for children to learn about falcons and different types of hunting, as well as equestrian, hunting, and the use of Saluki dogs.

Ibrahim Al Hamadi from the heritage village conducts workshops teaching children about falcons and eagles, as well as how to prepare and pour coffee for guests. He also teaches children about the birds and how to take care and hold them. The heritage village is a testament to the rich Emirati culture that has been passed down through generations.

The event is not just about learning, but also about appreciation. This year's edition includes eight falcon auctions, four of which are held before the exhibition and four during. There's also a falcon beauty contest, Arabian Saluki beauty contest, and the most beautiful falcon hood and perch.

Zayed Al Mehairbi, 19, brought his two-year-old nephew to the exhibition to show him about horses, camels, and hunting, which are part of their culture. Saeed Al Aleli shares similar sentiments, believing it's important for children to learn about their heritage at events like Adihex.

Since its launch in 2003, the event has undergone continuous growth. Over the past two million visitors have attended the exhibition, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike. The 22nd edition of Adihex is a celebration of hunting and heritage, showcasing activities and traditions that have been part of Emirati culture for thousands of years.
