On the afternoon of August 31, 2025, a multi-vehicle accident occurred on the A1 motorway near Dinklage, heading towards Hamburg. The incident required the immediate intervention of the Police Inspectorate Delmenhorst/Oldenburg-Land/Wesermarsch, the fire brigade in Holdorf, and other emergency services.

The exact cause of the accident remains unknown at this time. The 87-year-old driver of a Renault, who hails from Harpstedt, was slightly injured and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His vehicle collided with a Mercedes, driven by a 40-year-old from Steinfeld. The identity of the Mercedes driver has not been disclosed in the available information.

The Mercedes, occupied by four people in addition to the driver, also collided with a Hyundai driven by a 21-year-old from Vechta. Remarkably, the other parties involved in the accident and their occupants remained uninjured.

All vehicles involved in the accident collided with the outer and central safety barriers, resulting in extensive damage. Consequently, the A1 motorway was completely closed for the investigation of the accident and the recovery measures.

The accident occurred at 13:03 on August 31, 2025. The Renault and the Mercedes, involved in the accident, were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away.
