On August 26, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on Radeberger Landstraße, Dresden Heide, involving a Renault and a Volkswagen. The incident took place between 15:35 and 16:45, causing significant disruption to the area.

According to the Dresden Fire Department, 28 emergency services from the Albertstadt fire and rescue station, the Langebrück district fire department, and the A-service and U-service were involved in the immediate response. The scene of the accident has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.

One person was severely injured in the collision and had to be freed by the fire department using hydraulic rescue equipment. The affected person was examined by the rescue service on-site and was taken to a hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. Three other individuals sustained slight injuries and were also taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance.

The cause of the collision remains unknown at this time. However, it is known that the accident was caused by a defect in a battery during the installation of a balcony power station. The defect caused heavy smoke development, which quickly spread to a room in the basement of a residential building nearby.

To manage the situation, firefighters removed the battery from the building and placed it in a water bath. The affected room was then ventilated with a fan to remove the smoke. Subsequently, the smoke-filled room was thoroughly ventilated to ensure the safety of all involved.

The Radeberger Landstraße is currently completely closed in both directions due to the accident. For more information, please contact the Fire Department Dresden Press Office: Michael Klahrer, telephone: 0351/8155-295, mobile: 0160-96328780, email: [email protected].

The head of the Dresden Fire Department, Mirko Göhler, who has been the fire chief ("Wehrleiter") of the Dresden volunteer fire brigade since 2010, was unavailable for comment at the time of this report.
