Multiple Vehicles Collide, Leaves Five Injured: Road Blocked for over an Hour due to Turned-Over Vehicle Incident
In a significant incident on Wednesday evening, a multi-vehicle accident occurred on Autobahn 3 near Seligenstadt, resulting in five slight injuries and extensive damage.
The accident began when a 32-year-old driver of an E-class vehicle attempted to overtake a G-class vehicle on the middle lane. However, another car in the left lane forced the E-class driver to abort the maneuver. In an attempt to overtake again, the E-class driver illegally moved into the right lane, colliding with the G-class and causing it to overturn and slide onto the hard shoulder.
The G-class driver, a 46-year-old male, was hospitalized and subjected to a blood test. The E-class and G-class are likely to be written off. The accident also involved a BMW and a VW, which were damaged, and a following C-class, which was hit by debris. A large piece of concrete broke off and was thrown several meters away due to the impact with the central barrier.
The total damage to the five vehicles and the concrete barrier is estimated at around 125,000 euros. Fortunately, only five people were slightly injured, including four passengers in the G-class vehicle and the 32-year-old driver of the E-class vehicle.
The South East Hesse Police Highway Patrol is requesting further information from witnesses to clarify the course of the accident. The lane in the direction of Würzburg was completely closed for investigation, vehicle recovery, and road cleaning until around 1:30 AM.
