Music director Daniel Barenboim steps down, Bookbinder assumes leadership.
The Grafenegg Festival is set to conclude on Sunday with a captivating performance of Beethoven's Piano Concertos No. 4 and 5. However, the concert's programme has undergone a change due to the unavailability of the original conductors.
The director of the Grafenegg Festival, Florian Eisner, was initially scheduled to conduct the musicians. But due to a twist of events, the musician Daniel Barenboim, who had stepped in for Zubin Mehta earlier, suffered an injury, including a shoulder injury, in a fall last night. This unfortunate incident has necessitated a change in the conductors for the final concert.
In a new solution for the final concert, the festival director himself, Rudolf Buchbinder, will take the helm. Buchbinder, who is also a renowned pianist, will lead the musicians through the final concert, conducting Beethoven's Piano Concertos No. 4 and 5 from the piano.
Zubin Mehta, who was supposed to conduct the concert, had to abstain from a Grafenegg appearance due to health reasons. Daniel Barenboim, who had initially agreed to step in for Mehta, has now also relinquished the baton for the final concert.
Despite the changes, the final concert of the Grafenegg Festival will still feature Beethoven's Piano Concertos No. 4 and 5. The concert, to be led by Intendant Rudolf Buchbinder, promises to be a memorable conclusion to this year's festival.
So, mark your calendars for Sunday, as the Grafenegg Festival bids adieu with a performance that promises to be a musical treat.
