Mysterious individual proposes a timepiece to elderly gentleman aged 77

In the quiet town of Hagen, Germany, a fraudster has been on the loose, targeting the elderly. On August 29, 2025, a 77-year-old resident fell victim to this cunning individual.

The fraudster, described as approximately 40 to 45 years old, standing between 165 cm and 170 cm tall, with brown, curly hair, approached the victim in the parking lot of a Hohenlimburger supermarket in Bahnstraße, Hagen-Hohenlimburg. He was wearing a grey jacket and blue jeans during the incident.

The fraudster claimed to know the victim and engaged in conversation around 10:30 AM. He presented two wristwatches to the victim, asking for a low two-digit amount of cash. After receiving the money, he handed over one of the watches but drove off in a small car towards Hohenlimburger Straße, leaving the victim with a fake timepiece.

The Hagen police have taken the matter seriously and have assigned Chief Inspector Peter Zapp, head of the investigative unit, to lead the investigation.
