Teamwork on Cybersecurity Matters Amplified

Napoleon Sports and Casino Joins European Gaming and Betting Association's Cybersecurity Coalition

In a monumental move, the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) announced that Belgium's online gambling operator, Napoleon Sports & Casino, has joined forces with their newly-established expert group on cybersecurity.

Synergy in Cybersecurity Against Online Threats

By joining EGBA's cybersecurity expert group, Napoleon Sports & Casino makes history as the pioneering operator outside the association to team up with the industry body on cybersecurity issues.

Maarten Haijer, the EGBA Secretary General, warmly welcomed the newcomer, expressing how their Belgian market expertise adds value to the group, a platform that facilitates the sharing of practical information and solutions pertaining to the latest cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities, as well as advocating for an industry-wide, unified approach.

haijer also extended an invitation to other operators, urging them to reach out to EGBA if they wish to engage in this collaborative cybersecurity discussion.

Last year, launched by EGBA, the cybersecurity group was conceived with the aim of encouraging its members to embrace top-notch cybersecurity practices. This initiative serves as a platform for operators to share knowledge and expertise, identify the latest online security threats, and devise strategies to mitigate potential weaknesses and deter cyber attacks.

Tom De Clercq, executive director of Napoleon Sports & Casino, articulated the company's focus on providing a secure environment for its players, stressing that safeguarding customer data is essential to achieving this objective.

De Clercq emphasized that the ever-evolving, interconnected online gambling realm calls for a unified response to cyber threats, positioning Napoleon's participation in the cybersecurity group as an opportunity to exchange best practices and drive initiatives within the industry to enhance online security and ensure a safe, secure, and protected entertainment environment for players.

The group comprises cybersecurity experts hailing from EGBA members, including some of Europe's foremost online gambling operators. The collaboration operates under a Memorandum of Understanding and extends its doors to all European online gambling operators committed to maintaining the highest cybersecurity standards.

Early Advocacy for Player Protection

Beyond data protection, EGBA is dedicated to safeguarding players from gambling-related harm. Last month, EGBA presented a proposal to the European Committee for Standardization, advocating for the creation of standard markers for gambling harm.

After careful consideration, the Committee for Standardization (CEN) endorsed EGBA's proposal and gave their blessing for the development of these markers.

Although the search results do not provide specific details about EGBA's cybersecurity expert group or its current members, they do suggest that EGBA supports regulatory bodies' calls for a robust digital market and welcomes the European Commission's commitment to improving the digital single market, which could indirectly relate to cybersecurity efforts in the gaming sector.

For precise data and a list of the EGBA cybersecurity expert group's members, it is recommended to consult EGBA's official communications or their website directly.
