Estonian Air Force Chief Affirms Immediate Response of NATO Fighters

In a recent statement, the Chief of Staff of the Estonian Air Force has reaffirmed that the immediate deployment of NATO fighters is a response option if an object were to enter Estonian space. This statement comes in response to a recent drone crash in Lake Peipsi, Russia.

The Chief of Staff emphasised the prompt action of NATO fighters in such a scenario. He underscored that the Estonian Armed Forces have various ways of using force, depending on the specific situation.

According to the Chief, the authority responsible for coordinating the Estonian Air Force’s responses when an object enters Estonian airspace is the Estonian Air Surveillance Wing (Õhuseiredivisjon), which operates under the Estonian Defence Forces and works in cooperation with NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission.
