Wanna hear 'bout a cool deed? Las Vegas Sands dropped a whopping $350,000 for the 2024-2025 and 2026-2027 academic years to the National Hispanic Institute (NHI), boostin' the transformational leadership development program for Latino high school students in Sin City[1].

This generous move is part of Las Vegas Sands' long-run commitment to foster leadership and development among the youth in the locale through their Sands Cares initiative[1].

From 2022 to 2024, Sands Cares dollars kickstarted 97 Las Vegas high school students' NHI leadership journey. Over 25 of 'em even returned as volunteers[1].

NHI's program equips students with essential skills through a multi-level training process. First, it's all about communication as a self-advancement and community change tool during their Great Debate[2]. As they progress to their junior year, they dive deep into governance, organizational development, and policy design[2]. Rising seniors focus on college admissions and community leadership in the Collegiate World Series[2].

" thanks to Sands, we'reiddin' high-achievers into our leadership development programs, automatically settin' 'em up for success in public, private and overall life,” shares NHI's Executive Vice President, Nicole Nieto[2].

Sands' Senior Vice President, Ron Reese, quoted that, "we've witnessed the magic o' the NHI curriculum and it's dead on with our mission to create a future workforce that’s both capable and diverse[2]." Ain't that a beaut'?

Fundin' for '24-'25 will cover student tuition, travel costs, recognition ceremonies, a student civic project, a fundraiser, local admin support, and community outreach[1]. Plus, they're planning on a one-day leadership seminar for eighth grade students and a Las Vegas annual report for parents, schools, and the community[1].

Interested students and school officials can holler at Regina Legarreta at [email protected] or head to www.nationalhispanicinstitute.org to apply before Feb. 28[1]. No matter the background, all students are encouraged to take a shot at this life-changing program[1].

Through this program, students in Las Vegas benefit from a transformational leadership experience, learning essential skills like communication, governance, and community leadership, all thanks to the Sands Cares initiative by Las Vegas Sands.
