New Appointment at BRSO: Tabaré Perlas Assumes Manager Role
New Management at Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra: Tabaré Perlas Takes Over
The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (BRSO) is set to welcome a new management team, with Tabaré Perlas taking over as the new manager starting on April 1, 2026. This change was announced by BR on Thursday.
Nikolaus Pont, the current manager, is stepping down after many years of service, having made significant contributions to the orchestra. His departure, however, was not discussed in detail in the announcement.
Tabaré Perlas, who previously worked with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, brings extensive global experience to his new role. He has served as General Manager of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra since 1999, working alongside Daniel Barenboim. Under his leadership, the orchestra undertook international tours, engaged prominent artists, and spearheaded projects such as the Barenboim-Said Academy and the Pierre Boulez Saal.
In his new position at the BRSO, Perlas will oversee organizational and personnel leadership. He expressed his excitement about being able to contribute to the artistic excellence of the orchestra and aims to further enhance its international reputation.
Program Director Culture Bjoern Wilhelm described Perlas as "an acknowledged expert in all aspects of orchestra management with excellent international connections." Perlas will work closely with the chief conductor, artistic planning, and orchestra board in his role at the BRSO.
Perlas is also expected to contribute ideas for the planned new concert hall in Munich. His leadership will be crucial in leading the management and future projects of the BRSO.
Nikolaus Pont is leaving the BRSO by his own choice. Perlas will take over as the new manager, marking a new era for the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. The change in management will take effect in the spring of 2026.
