New arrival takes position at Darmstadt's primary customs office, launching customs career!

The Main Customs Office Darmstadt, located in the city of Darmstadt, is welcoming applications for a dual study program in administrative informatics starting from September 2026. Interested parties can submit their applications until October 15, 2025.

For those seeking a career in public administration or related fields, including administrative computer science, this is an excellent opportunity to join the customs service. The application should be made to the General Customs Directorate.

Come September 1, 2025, 1700 young professionals will embark on their careers at the Main Customs Office Darmstadt, with 52 of them starting at the main office. The new recruits will undergo a two-year training program in the middle service or a three-year study program in the higher service.

The IT trainees of the higher service will find themselves preferably employed in the field of digital forensics, digitalization, database management, and various project work. The training program includes both theoretical and practical phases, with the theoretical parts taking place at different locations of the Federal Administration Academy.

The practical phases of the training will be spent in various departments of the Main Customs Office, such as the Financial Control of Illegal Work or at customs offices in Bensheim, Darmstadt, Hanau, or Wiesbaden. Upon completion of the training, the customs service will generally take on all suitable young talents.

Michael Blumenstock, head of the Main Customs Office Darmstadt, expresses appreciation for the future contributions of the new recruits. The young customs officers can expect to work in a wide range of areas, including clerical work, special units, customs offices, and customs investigation.
