In a thrilling fourth quarter, Scottre Humphrey, a junior transfer from Montana State, scored a 1-yard rushing touchdown to give the New Mexico Lobos a lead they would not relinquish, securing their first win of the season in a 32-22 victory over Idaho State.

Humphrey's second touchdown of the game, a 61-yard run in the second quarter, helped New Mexico take a commanding 14-3 lead. The Lobos' head coach, Jason Eck, tasted victory for the first time since taking the helm.

Quarterback Jack Layne completed 13 passes for 155 yards in the game, while Dorian Thomas had five receptions for 55 yards.

On the other side of the field, the Bengals, currently 0-2 for the season, used two quarterbacks, Davis Harsin and Jackson Sharman. Harsin completed 17 out of 26 passes for 181 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, while Sharman completed 11 out of 13 passes for 84 yards. The Bengals' quarterbacks combined to complete 28 out of 39 passes for 265 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

The Idaho State Bengals fought back with three consecutive scoring drives spanning halftime, but it was not enough to overcome the Lobos. The head coach of the Idaho State football team is Cody Hawkins.
