New recruits commence their customs journey at the primary office in Schweinfurt: 23 novel employees embark on their customs profession

New Customs Officers Join Ranks at Main Customs Office Schweinfurt

The Main Customs Office Schweinfurt welcomed 23 new recruits on September 2, 2025, as part of a nationwide intake of 1,700 young people into the customs service. The new officers will undergo training or study that lasts between two to three years, depending on the service.

Of the new recruits, 17 are undergoing a two-year training in the middle service, while 6 are pursuing a three-year bachelor's degree course in the higher service. The training in the middle service entitles the holder to use the professional title of "financial administrator", while the dual study program in the higher service concludes with the academic degree "Bachelor of Laws".

The theoretical parts of the training and study are conducted at various locations. In the higher service, they are completed at the Federal Administration School in Mรผnster, while in the middle service, they are conducted at the customs' own training center in Erfurt. The trainees spend their practical phases in various areas of the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt and at nearby customs offices.

After completing their training or study, the young customs officers can expect to be employed in a wide range of areas of customs. The spectrum of potential employment includes casework, special units, financial control of undeclared work, and customs investigation.
