The Askania Order of Merit Recruits New Individuals - New recruits sought by the Askan Order.
In the historic castle church of Ballenstedt, District of Harz, a special event took place on Saturday. The public investiture ceremony of the Askanian House Order, a prestigious organisation with roots dating back over a thousand years, was held.
Eduard of Anhalt, the Grand Master of the Askanian House Order, emphasised the importance of this year's investiture. As a descendant of Albrecht the Bear, the order's namesake who lived from 1100 to 1170, Eduard holds a significant place within the organisation's history.
The investiture was not only a celebration of the Askanian House Order but also a personal milestone for Eduard. The ceremony was connected with a memorial service for his mother and brother, making the occasion even more significant. Eduard sees his birthplace, Ballenstedt, as a special place of remembrance.
Four knights and one lady were admitted as new members in the Askanian House Order during the ceremony. The new members now join the existing approximately 80 members of the order, continuing the tradition of dedication to social causes that the order holds dear.
The Askanian House Order primarily dedicates itself to social causes, and its current patron is Minister President Reiner Haseloff, who is also the patron of the SOS Children's Villages in Saxony-Anhalt, including the children's village in Bernburg. Eduard of Anhalt, too, is a patron of the SOS Children's Village of Saxony-Anhalt in Bernburg.
The ceremony took place in a well-filled castle church, with the community coming together to witness this significant event in the history of the Askanian House Order. As the Grand Master, Eduard Prince of Anhalt, bestowed the symbolic knighting upon the new members, marking a new chapter in the order's history.
Founded in 1836, the Askanian House Order "Albrecht the Bear" has a rich history. Its roots can be traced back to Ballenstedt, where the order was first established. The order continues to uphold the values and traditions of its namesake, Albrecht the Bear, as it moves forward in its mission to support social causes and make a positive impact in the community.
