Novak Djokovic Prepares for US Open Semifinals Against Carlos Alcaraz

Novak Djokovic, the six-time US Open champion, is gearing up for a semifinal showdown against Carlos Alcaraz at this year's tournament. Djokovic, who is currently chasing his 25th Grand Slam title, has had a mixed run so far.

Djokovic's head-to-head record against Alcaraz stands at 5-3 in his favour, having won their last two encounters. The Serbian tennis star triumphed over Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and the final of the 2024 Olympic Games in France.

However, Djokovic's journey to the semifinals of the US Open has been far from smooth. He started the tournament a bit shakily and was treated for neck, shoulder, and arm issues in the quarterfinals. The back trouble that bothered him in the third round persisted, but Djokovic managed to overcome these challenges to secure his place in the semifinals with a win against Taylor Fritz.

Djokovic won the match with a score of 6:3, 7:5, 3:6, 6:4, extending his winning streak against Fritz to 11-0. Despite his physical concerns, Djokovic is determined to give his best in the upcoming match against Alcaraz.

The Serbian tennis star has been focusing on taking one day at a time, prioritising body care, relaxation, and recovery to be physically ready for a potential five-set match against Alcaraz. He emphasised the importance of fitness and rising to the occasion in big matches.

Djokovic's last Grand Slam triumph was in New York two years ago, and he is eager to add another title to his impressive collection. However, he admitted that he feels different now compared to his previous matches, but he is unsure about his physical condition.

In a lighter note, Djokovic performed a little dance after his win, which he learned from his daughter Tara. The dance was to the song "Soda Pop," and they had practiced various choreographies. Djokovic dedicated his win to Tara, who stayed at home on her 8th birthday.

Alcaraz, currently the world number two, will present a formidable challenge for Djokovic. The two have faced each other seven times, with Djokovic leading the head-to-head record. However, Alcaraz has managed to secure one victory, defeating Djokovic in the final of the 2024 Wimbledon.

As the semifinals approach, both players are eager to give their best and secure a place in the final. The US Open continues to deliver exciting tennis action, and this semifinal match promises to be one of the highlights of the tournament.
