Newcastle sets a high price for Alexander Isak's departure: If Liverpool submits a £130m offer for the discontented striker on the final day of the transfer window, the Magpies might entertain the idea thoroughly.

In a surprising turn of events, Alexander Isak, Newcastle United's determined striker, has completed a record transfer to Liverpool for around £125-130 million (about €150 million). The Swedish international, who has publicly expressed his desire to leave and hasn't made a single appearance this season, signed a six-year contract, finalising the deal on deadline day.

Throughout the summer, Liverpool has shown interest in Isak, but a formal proposal was yet to be sent. Meanwhile, the Magpies have been attempting to sign Yoane Wissa and Jorgen Strand Larsen, but their approaches for both players have been rebuffed.

Interestingly, Newcastle has insisted on a £150m (€173m/$203m) fee for Isak all summer, a hefty sum that may have deterred potential suitors. Yet, the club's owners met with Isak at his house earlier this week to discuss his future, signalling a possible agreement was in the works.

The potential exit of Isak from Newcastle will not hinge on their success in signing another player for the attack. In fact, the Magpies have recently completed a club-record move for Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart, bringing in a promising young talent to bolster their attacking options.

It's worth noting that Liverpool's new signing, Hugo Ekitike, has started his life at Anfield with three goals in his first four games. With Isak now joining the ranks, the Reds' attacking force promises to be formidable indeed.

Isak's decision to seek pastures new this summer marks a significant shift in the Premier League landscape. As the dust settles on this record transfer, both Newcastle and Liverpool fans eagerly anticipate the impact these new signings will have on their respective teams.
