Martin Knobbe Joins Handelsblatt as Deputy Editor-in-Chief

Martin Knobbe, a seasoned journalist with over two decades of experience, is set to join Handelsblatt as the new deputy editor-in-chief. Knobbe's career trajectory includes stints at some of Germany's most renowned media outlets, including Süddeutsche Zeitung, Stern, Der Spiegel, and now Handelsblatt.

Knobbe's most recent role was leading the politics desk and the Berlin bureau at news magazine Der Spiegel for five years. Prior to this, he served as a correspondent for Stern before taking up the role of leading the politics desk at Der Spiegel. This marks a total of 10 years of experience leading the politics desk at Stern and Der Spiegel.

In his new role at Handelsblatt, Knobbe will be primarily responsible for managing daily operations. He will work alongside news chief Kevin Knitterscheidt. Knobbe, aged 52, will assume the role of deputy editor-in-chief starting January 1, 2025, and will commence his role no earlier than this date.

Knobbe's journalistic career began at Süddeutsche Zeitung. Prior to his role at Der Spiegel, he had already gained journalistic experience at Stern. His first journalistic position was at Süddeutsche Zeitung.

In his new role at Handelsblatt, Knobbe will primarily manage daily operations. He will start working at Handelsblatt no later than January 1, 2025. Before his appointment as deputy editor-in-chief at Handelsblatt, his previous employer was Der Spiegel, where he co-led the Berlin office until December 2024.

Knobbe's addition to Handelsblatt's team is expected to strengthen the publication's political coverage, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to the table. The publication looks forward to the contributions Knobbe will make in his new role.
