NFL-Browns controversy surrounding Shedeur Sanders draft: Coach Prime expresses outrage over shocking claims
In the world of NFL, the Cleveland Browns have been making headlines recently. The team announced that veteran quarterback Joe Flacco will be their starter for Week 1, pushing Shedeur Sanders, the son of legendary coach Deion Sanders, to wait for his turn in the regular season.
Joe Flacco, aged 40, has been performing at a high level, taking the majority of the first-team reps during practice and looking comfortable. He sat out the Browns' first two preseason games but has been making a strong impression during training camp, according to Flacco himself.
Meanwhile, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel led the Browns in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams, entering the field to loud cheers. The young quarterback's draft journey has been unusual, with former running back Eric Dickerson claiming that NFL officials pressured teams not to pick Sanders. Dickerson cited sources in his claim, stating that the NFL told teams, "Don't draft him. We're going to make an example of him."
However, no verifiable source has been found to support this suspicion of NFL officials' involvement in the delay of Shedeur Sanders' draft. Commentator Dick Vitale expressed his support for Sanders, stating he hopes Sanders proves he should have been drafted higher and further adding, "I hope he becomes a success for the @Browns who drafted him in the 5th round."
Vitale, known for his passion for sports, also wrote on August 21, "I'm rooting hard for @ShedeurSanders and any athlete who gets a raw deal." Deion Sanders, Shedeur's father, responded to the support, tweeting, "Love ya man, and I've always appreciated your Truth! God bless Hero."
Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski anticipates all players, including those not starting, to prepare as if they are the starter. The Browns have been focusing on preparing for Week 1, with decisions about the team expected to be made in the next couple of days.
