NFL Showdown: Notable Performers on the Brink for Rams-Browns Rosters?
Rams Suffer Preseason Loss to Browns, Terrance Ferguson Shines
The Los Angeles Rams faced off against the Cleveland Browns in their final preseason game on Saturday, with the Browns emerging victorious by a score of 19-17. Despite the loss, there were several standout performances from Rams players.
One such player was Shaun Dolac, an undrafted free agent from Buffalo. Dolac, who stands at 6-1 and 225 pounds, has made his mark on special teams for the Rams.
On the defensive side, outside linebacker Jamil Muhammad shone, recording two of the Rams' six sacks in the game. Brennan Jackson, Elias Neal, Tony Fields II, and Bill Norton also got in on the action, each registering a sack.
Terrance Ferguson, a tight end for the Rams, had a strong impact in the game. In the second quarter, he made a 33-yard catch and a 15-yard gain. Coach Sean McVay was pleased with Ferguson's performance, praising him after the game.
Unfortunately, several key players were held out of the game. Xavier Smith, a receiver for the Rams, and Josh Wallace, a cornerback, were both absent. Konata Mumpfield, another receiver, and Larrell Murchison, a defensive lineman, also did not play.
Gary Klein, a second-round draft pick from Oregon, made his debut for the Rams after sitting out the first two preseason games due to a hamstring injury. Dresser Winn, a quarterback for the Rams, completed 15 of 23 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown in the game.
In a surprising development, Desjuan Johnson, a defensive lineman for the Rams, was given a look at outside linebacker due to Keir Thomas' injury. Johnson is competing for a role on the defensive line but could potentially find a new position in the team.
Meanwhile, Omar Speights, an undrafted free agent last season, made the Rams' roster for his special teams contributions and has developed into a starting linebacker. Tanner Ingle, a safety for the Rams, delivered several big hits on defense and special teams, finishing with six tackles.
In a separate development, Matthew Stafford, the quarterback for the Rams, spoke to reporters for the first time since sustaining a back injury that kept him out the first three weeks of training camp. Stafford provided no update on his injury status but was optimistic about the team's chances going into the regular season.
Stetson Bennett, another quarterback for the Rams, engineered a late scoring drive in a previous game. With the regular season fast approaching, the Rams will be looking to fine-tune their roster and strategies to secure a strong start.
