NFL team Cleveland Browns cuts ties with defensive lineman Ralph Holley, who previously played for the Toronto Argonauts, from their practice squad.

Ralph Holley's Brief Stint with the Cleveland Browns

Ralph Holley, a defensive tackle who previously played for the Toronto Argonauts, signed with the Cleveland Browns this offseason. Before joining the Browns, Holley had worked out for seven NFL teams, including the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints.

Holley's tenure with the Browns was short-lived, as he was released from their practice roster just two days after signing. During the preseason, Holley recorded one tackle in three games.

Prior to his NFL career, Holley played collegiately at Western Michigan University, where he was a standout player for the Broncos. Over 50 games, he recorded 138 tackles, 45.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, five pass knockdowns, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. In 2024, Holley helped the Argonauts win the Grey Cup. That season, he recorded 22 tackles, eight sacks, and one forced fumble. His eight sacks tied for the league lead, despite playing mostly on the interior.

Following his release from the Browns, Holley was waived as part of final roster cuts. However, he was later brought back to the practice squad. As of now, Holley is still under contract with the Cleveland Browns, with no indication of having been signed by another NFL team.

It's worth noting that Holley's exclusive CFL rights are still controlled by the Argonauts for the rest of 2025. This means that if Holley decides to return to the CFL, he would have to do so with Toronto.

In his pro day in 2022, Holley impressed scouts with his athleticism. He ran a 4.99 in the 40-yard dash, 4.67 short shuttle, and 7.53 three-cone drill. He also recorded a 30-inch vertical and an eight-foot, 10-inch broad jump. Holley bench pressed 225 pounds 24 times.

Holley's brief stint with the Browns marks a new chapter in his NFL career. As he continues to work and develop, fans will be eager to see where his journey takes him next.
