Nissan X-Trail Gets a Mid-Lifecycle Update in Japan, Introducing Premium Autech Trim

The Nissan X-Trail is receiving a mid-lifecycle update in Japan, bringing a host of new features and trim options to the popular SUV. Among the most notable additions is the Autech trim, which offers a premium experience and a more refined interior.

The Autech trim rides on exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels and boasts a chrome finish for the mirror caps, side moldings, and roof rails. On the exterior, it features shiny extensions, a unique grille pattern, and extra LEDs in blue color. The interior of the Autech trim is equally impressive, with quilted leather seats adorned with Autech branding, dark wood accents, and blue stitching.

For those seeking a more rugged appearance, the Rock Creek trim is also available. This adventure-oriented trim features a rugged appearance and carries over the Sotoasobi package, an optional addition to the standard X-Trail or the Rock Creek. The Sotoasobi package offers a rugged treatment with a matte black hood wrap, bolt-on fender extensions, and distinctive emblems.

The Autech trim will go on sale in Japan starting on September 18, with pricing starting from ¥5,141,400 ($34,900). The Sotoasobi Package for the Autech trim adds ¥241,425 ($1,600) to the price. The X-Trail now features an upgraded infotainment system with Google Built-in, higher-grade materials, and additional cameras providing a 360-degree view and Invisible Hood View function.

In addition to the Autech and Rock Creek editions, the updated X-Trail also offers the performance-minded Nismo edition. The Sports Spec in the Autech trim focuses on driving dynamics, introducing performance dampers, sharper steering, and dedicated tuning for the all-wheel-drive system and vehicle control module (VCM).

The familiar powertrains from the pre-facelift model, including the e-Power self-charging hybrid and the 1.5-liter VC-Turbo gasoline engine, carry over to the updated X-Trail. The X-Trail is also offered with special equipment starting at approximately 3.1 million yen, with the Autech trim available in the exclusive Deep Ocean Blue shade.

The updated X-Trail shares design and tech features with the facelifted Rogue, but also offers market-specific trims. Key highlights of the updated X-Trail include the Nismo, Autech, and Rock Creek editions, as well as the Autech Advanced package, which offers extra safety, technology, and comfort features. The Autech trim aims to provide a premium experience for those seeking a refined and stylish SUV, while the Rock Creek trim caters to those who prefer a more rugged and adventure-oriented vehicle.
