Norbert Hübsch continues to serve as the city's financial official

Norbert Huëbsch, a native of Heinersreuther and an esteemed figure in the fields of regional history and monument preservation, has been reappointed as the Stadtheimatpfleger (City Heritage Custodian) of Bayreuth for the next five years.

Mayor Thomas Ebersberger expressed his delight at the continuation of Huëbsch's service, praising his competence as a contact person in the areas of Heimat and Brauchtumspflege (local traditions and customs), monument protection, promotion of Heimat thought, and mediation of knowledge about the history and culture of Bayreuth.

Huëbsch's dedication to his role is evident in his numerous contributions to the city. He became the business manager of the Historical Association for Upper Franconia in 1987 and took on the honorary leadership of the Archaeological Museum of the Historical Association for Upper Franconia in 1997. His volunteer work at the State Office for Monument Protection and his membership in the Historical Association for Upper Franconia since 1983 are also testament to his passion for preserving and caring for the cultural heritage of Bayreuth.

In 2000, Huëbsch was awarded the Bavarian Monument Protection Medal for his services to the protection of archaeological monuments. Five years later, in 2018, he was honoured with the Federal Cross of Merit for his decades of voluntary commitment to regional history.

Huëbsch's enthusiasm for history, particularly prehistory, is evident in all his activities. His ability to inspire and convey historical knowledge has made him a valued asset in Bayreuth. As the city's Stadtheimatpfleger, he serves as an important interface between the city administration, the citizens of Bayreuth, and organisations committed to preserving and shaping local culture and history.
