North American premiere of "This is MANGA - The Art of NAOKI URASAWA" exhibition to launch on our Los Angeles website on January 23.
Get ready, manga fans! The highly anticipated "This is MANGA - The Art of NAOKI URASAWA" exhibit is coming to our website Los Angeles. This innovative, worldwide project, conceived by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be running from January 23 to March 28, 2019.
The exhibit will feature selected stories from some of Urasawa's most renowned works, including YAWARA!, MONSTER, 20th Century Boys, PLUTO, BILLY BAT, MASTER KEATON ReMASTER, and MUJIRUSHI. Over 400 original drawings and storyboards from these seven major works will be on display, offering a unique insight into the creative process of this internationally acclaimed Japanese manga artist.
For those who are eager to meet the man behind the masterpieces, there will be a Naoki Urasawa Book Signing on January 23, 2019, from 6:00PM - 7:00PM at our website Gallery, Level 2. Attendees must purchase a book at our website "monozukuri shop" to participate.
Urasawa's works have been published in more than 20 countries, and he has sold over 127 million copies of his works in Japan alone. His visit to Los Angeles is a significant event for manga enthusiasts in the city. However, it seems there are no records of any international events involving Urasawa in Los Angeles between January 2019 and March 2019, aside from this exhibit.
The exhibit introduces manga, a Japanese comic style, directly through Urasawa's manga, including his original hand-drawn storyboards. To enhance the Japanese cultural experience, a special reading area stocked with full, published English translations will be available.
In addition to the exhibit, related programs such as Character Drawing for Kids!, Elements of Character Designs for Manga & Comics, Compositions & Panel Layouts: "Koma-Wari" for Manga & Comics, and "Chara-Cature!" Your Caricature as a Manga Character, will be held. The dates for these programs are February 2, March 2, February 9, and February 9 respectively.
Interactive drawing workshops related to the "This is MANGA - The Art of NAOKI URASAWA" exhibition will also be offered. Information about these workshops will be released soon on www.our website.
For those who wish to learn more about Urasawa and his works, an interview with the artist will take place at our website Salon, Level 5, on January 23. The time for the interview is 7:15PM- 8:45PM.
Don't miss this incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of manga and meet one of the greatest manga artists of our time!
