St. Lukas Nursing Home's Long-Standing Director Beate Kalowsky Retires

After an impressive 34-year tenure, Beate Kalowsky, the nursing service director of St. Lukas Nursing Home, is retiring. Known for her infinite love for the elderly and her unwavering commitment to the well-being of the residents, staff, and relatives, Kalowsky leaves behind a legacy of compassionate care.

Throughout her career, Kalowsky has been instrumental in the growth and development of St. Lukas Nursing Home. She was instrumental in the opening of the St. Lukas Day Care Center in 1999 and played a significant role in the extension of the nursing home, which was put into operation in 2018 after an almost two-year construction phase.

The extension of St. Lukas Nursing Home was carefully planned, incorporating the team's experience in dealing with dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases. Circular paths were planned on each living area to create the necessary freedom of movement, based on the team's experience.

St. Lukas Nursing Home specializes in the care and support of people suffering from dementia, Parkinson's, or other neurodegenerative diseases, making it a unique facility in the field of geriatric psychiatry. The residents' illnesses often limit communication, requiring a special intuition. Kalowsky was always able to meet this challenge, always having a friendly word for each resident, noticing who's having a good day and who needs a little encouragement.

Anne Obermann, the current deputy, will succeed Kalowsky as nursing service director. Obermann has been a valued member of the team for many years and is well-equipped to continue Kalowsky's legacy of compassionate care.

Despite her retirement, travel is part of Kalowsky's plans. She will be leaving Hilden, where she has lived by choice, to explore new horizons. There are still a few employees at St. Lukas Nursing Home who have been there longer than Kalowsky, ensuring that her legacy will continue to live on within the institution.

Business manager Franziskus von Ballestrem describes Kalowsky as "a woman with a big heart." Her dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the residents and staff will be missed, but her legacy of compassionate care will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.

At this time, no relevant details or official announcements regarding institutional changes at St. Lukas Nursing Home and St. Lukas Day Care Center after Kalowsky's retirement have been made public.
