Nurturing Skills Initiative for Talent Enhancement

The MINT cluster "Zukunftswerker - all talents MINTaken", a collaborative project in Landshut, has received a significant boost with the approval of continuation funding from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR). This decision secures and develops the cluster's structures until 2027, providing time and financial stability for its goals.

The project, which began in September 2022, has already established a strong, extra-curricular educational offering for mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology (MINT) for children and young people in the city and district. With around 6,000 participants already engaged in various formats, the project's success is attributed to its focus on making MINT education accessible, regular, and diverse.

The MINT cluster unites strong partners such as the city of Landshut, MINT forum Bavaria, the university of Landshut, Silicon Vilstal, the world clock Landshut, and the neighborhood meeting point DOM. The project aims to inspire children and young people aged 8 to 16 for MINT subjects and to open up future-oriented perspectives for them.

A particular highlight of the project is the annual regional MINT day, where the cluster presents itself with a colorful program including science shows, practical workshops, company information stands, and special attractions like the "Innotruck" of the BMBF.

The focus of the continuation phase is on consolidating existing MINT educational offerings and strategically expanding the network. The project seeks to build long-term partnerships with municipalities, companies, and civil society actors for future-proof independence. Specific future city partnerships have not been publicly announced yet.

The success of the project is mainly due to the voluntary commitment of the project partners with over 675 coach deployments. The organizational structures will be strengthened to ensure long-term securing of MINT offerings in Landshut.

The "child-friendly municipality" Landshut starts into a second project phase, with the goal of jointly taking responsibility for the MINT education of tomorrow, contributing to long-term skilled workforce security. The continuation funding decision is an important signal for the Landshut region, emphasizing the significance of the project in promoting MINT education.

The MINT cluster is a collection of various organizations and institutions, each with a specific role in the project. The project team emphasizes that the funding provides time and financial stability for the mentioned goals, ensuring the continued success of the MINT cluster "Zukunftswerker - all talents MINTaken" in Landshut.
