Nvidia hints at an upcoming significant reveal for GeForce Now, confirming the absence of new hardware at Gamescom 2025.

Nvidia is set to make some exciting announcements at Gamescom 2025, with a live stream scheduled for noon PT. The tech giant will provide updates on upcoming GeForce features for RTX GPU owners, as well as announce "major" GeForce Now news and "some highly anticipated" PC games.

In a significant development, Nvidia's GeForce Now cloud gaming datacenter hardware is expected to receive a major upgrade. This upgrade may include an upgrade to the "ultimate" tier featuring Blackwell server GPU hardware, which is classified as the RTX 5080-class experience. This upgrade could potentially enable cloud gaming streams up to 5K resolution at 120 fps and latency under 30 ms.

Nvidia has also announced several new features for GeForce Now. These include the integration of DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation for huge performance gains, a new "Install-to-Play" feature expanding game availability beyond 4,500 titles, and improved AI-driven RTX enhancements for realistic graphics and performance. Streaming quality is set to be boosted with advanced encoding (AV1, 4:2:2) and new low-latency networking tech (L4S).

Moreover, Nvidia has partnered with Discord for direct cloud gaming integration, allowing gamers to stream their games directly from the cloud to Discord.

However, it's important to note that Nvidia will not be announcing new GPU hardware at the convention. The RTX 50 series GPUs, which were launched eight months ago, are not expected to be the focus of the event.

Nvidia's flagship GeForce Now datacenters are still using generation-old Ada Lovelace GPUs. Despite this, DLSS support on GeForce Now is limited to version 3 and has not been upgraded to DLSS 4, despite Ada Lovelace supporting some DLSS 4 features.

Reflex 2, announced at CES this year, has not been released in the two games it was supposed to launch with, The Finals and Valorant. Nvidia may announce an official release date for Reflex 2 and neural texture compression at Gamescom 2025. Neural texture compression is an unreleased technology that can drop the memory footprint of video game textures by almost 10x with AI.

Nvidia will also be giving away five RTX 5070 Founders Edition graphics cards and additional prizes at Gamescom 2025. Participation is required to win the RTX 5070s; visitors need to visit booths, play demos, and find clues on X to find a Golden Ticket.

Stay tuned for more updates from Gamescom 2025! The current "ultimate" plan on GeForce Now is classified as an RTX 4080-class experience, and it seems we will have to wait a year or almost two years after the RTX 50 series launch for the next generation of graphics cards.
