Nvidia's Update on App Shifts Legacy Settings: Multi-Monitor and 3D Settings Transferred from the Classic Nvidia Control Panel (20-year-old version)

In a significant move for gamers and tech enthusiasts, Nvidia has launched an update to its Nvidia App that brings many features from the Nvidia Control Panel into the fold. The update, released in November 2024 (Version 11.0.5.245), marks a step towards consolidating the software experiences of GeForce Experience and Nvidia Control Panel.

The latest version of the Nvidia App now functions in Offline Mode, allowing users to access System Control Panel and Driver Settings without an internet connection. This update is particularly beneficial for those who prefer to manage their graphics settings independently.

One of the key features migrated to the Nvidia App is the 3D Settings customization. Users can now adjust Anisotropic Filtering, Antialiasing, MFAA, PhysX, Texture Filtering, and Background Application Max Frame Rate directly within the app. Advanced multi-monitor settings, including Surround functionality, have also been included to cater to comprehensive multi-monitor gaming and productivity environments.

Notebook users will appreciate the addition of Advanced Optimus, which now shows which apps are blocking its use and offers the ability to toggle notifications for tray icon and desktop notifications.

While the Nvidia Control Panel is not likely to be phased out anytime soon, most of its features and settings are being moved to the Nvidia App over time. The 3D settings, for instance, can still be found in the Nvidia Control Panel, with a link to open the program within the menus of the Nvidia App.

The upcoming driver version, planned for August 19, 2025, as part of the GeForce 581.08 WHQL update, is expected to incorporate additional features from the Nvidia Control Panel, bringing the Nvidia App even closer to the promise of a GeForce Experience that matters.

With these updates, consumers will now be able to solve most of their GPU-specific problems within one Nvidia desktop program, streamlining their gaming and productivity experiences.
