In the heart of Dublin city centre, an unfortunate incident occurred this morning, causing disruptions and concerns. The serious assault took place on Westmoreland Street, specifically around 6.30am.

The incident resulted in a man aged in his 40s being seriously injured. Immediately following the incident, the injured man was transported to St James's Hospital for treatment. Six areas on O'Connell Street, O'Connell Bridge, and Westmoreland Street were cordoned off for technical examinations.

The cordoned-off areas temporarily disrupted the normal operations of businesses nearby. However, as investigations by Gardaí regarding the assault are ongoing, a number of areas around O'Connell Street have since been reopened, allowing businesses to resume their usual activities.

At this time, there is no publicly available information identifying the perpetrator of the morning attacks on Westmoreland Street in Dublin. Gardaí are urging anyone with information relevant to the case to come forward and contact the local police station.

Our thoughts are with the injured man and his family during this difficult time. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
