Officer-involved gunfire at an Oklahoma hospital results in the deaths of two individuals, one of whom is identified as a suspect.
In a tragic turn of events, a shooting at INTEGRIS Health Enid Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 17, has left two people dead. The incident occurred around 11 p.m.
The shooting was preceded by a domestic issue at a residence near E. Walnut Avenue and N. 12th Street in Enid. The suspect, an adult male, had reportedly come to the hospital before the shooting.
Upon arriving at the hospital, police found the suspect's vehicle parked on the premises. As officers tried to make contact with the suspect outside the hospital doors, he opened fire, shooting multiple times.
Two people were hit during the shooting. J.W. Bode, a 72-year-old hospital security guard, was among the victims. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the second deceased individual has not been publicly disclosed.
The suspect also fired at the police officers, who returned fire. The suspect's name has not been revealed, as it has not been publicly disclosed.
The shooting involved police officers from the Enid Police Department. Following the incident, the hospital was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
