Officials Razavi and Lindlohr embark on a commemorative itinerary
On Saturday, September 13, a significant event is set to take place in Mannheim as Minister Nicole Razavi, Christian Specht, Mayor of the city, Prof. Dr. Claus Wolf, President of LAD, gather to open the Night of Open Heritage. This event marks the beginning of the Day of Open Heritage 2025, which falls under the theme "WERT-voll: priceless or irreplaceable?".
The Night of Open Heritage will unfold at the Stadthaus N1 in Mannheim. During the event, Minister Razavi will symbolically unlock a digital monument map, a resource that will be accessible to the public via the Geoportal Baden-Württemberg. This digital map contains information on around 90,000 buildings and art monuments, as well as around 30,000 archaeological cultural monuments.
The heritage tour for 2025 will span across several cities, including Hausen am Tann, Altheim-Heiligkreuztal, Tübingen, Eberdingen, Großsachsenheim, Stuttgart, Konstanz, Donaueschingen, Villingen-Schwenningen, and more. The tour aims to highlight the intangible value of monuments as places of remembrance, bearers of history, and expressions of shared identity.
Notable monuments featured in the tour include the Cistercian nunnery in Heiligkreuztal, the MPS Studio in Villingen-Schwenningen, the Roman castle in Konstanz, and the publishing building Ernst Klett in Stuttgart.
State Secretary Andrea Lindlohr will initiate the tour at the Ministry of Spatial Development and Housing on September 8 and 9. Lindlohr emphasised that heritage preservation is cultural work in the best sense, preserving what binds us, and that monuments are living places of remembrance and recognition.
Before the start of the Open Monument Week, Minister Razavi will visit the town of Frickenhausen (Tälesmetropole) in September 2025, where she will present a bronze plaque and participate in local events during a short visit.
The value of monuments is not material but social, making them priceless. The Day of Open Heritage 2025 will continue on Sunday, September 14, with numerous activities throughout the country.
