In a highly anticipated clash between two powerhouse football teams, the third-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes emerged victorious against the top-ranked Texas Longhorns, securing a 14-7 victory in their season opener.

Quarterback Julian Sayin led the Buckeyes' offensive charge, completing 13 out of 20 passes for 126 yards. His most impressive pass was a 40-yard touchdown throw to Carnell Tate, who also scored another touchdown in the fourth quarter. Tate's second touchdown, however, was not without drama, as he juggled the ball before pulling it down in the end zone.

Arch Manning, the quarterback for Texas, completed 17 out of 30 passes for 170 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Despite Manning's efforts, the Longhorns struggled to find the end zone, with CJ Donaldson scoring the only touchdown for Texas midway through the second quarter.

Ohio State's defense played a crucial role in the game, preventing Texas from scoring in the red zone on several key occasions. Texas was unsuccessful on four out of five attempts on fourth down, including twice being stopped in the red zone.

One of Texas' fourth-down attempts came late in the game when they were trying to mount a comeback. Jack Endries was stopped by Caleb Downs one yard short of a first down, effectively ending Texas' hopes of a comeback.

Texas did manage to score a touchdown with 3:28 remaining in the fourth quarter, thanks to a 32-yard touchdown run by Parker Livingstone. However, the Longhorns' defense held strong, forcing a three-and-out, giving them a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter.

The matchup between Ohio State and Texas was the fourth time the AP's No. 1 team in the preseason poll met the previous season's national champion in the opener. Interestingly, the defending champion has won the last three openers against the AP's No. 1 team.

The head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes during this exciting game was Ryan Day. With this victory, the Buckeyes opened their season with a win, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
